Time To Quit

The Centre for mental health has published a report regarding smoking cessation support among people with severe mental illness. This report finds that people with mental illness are three times as likely to smoke than those without, and those who do smoke are more likely to be heavy smokers. As a result, it is estimated that 50% of deaths of people with severe mental illness are from smoking-related illnesses.

The report also finds that people with mental health illnesses are just as keen to quit as other smokers, but few get effective help.
